Harry's House

Wow... another smash album by mister Styles. We all admire Harry, especially his passionate pride and support for the LGBTQ+ community. His music does the job of matching a carefree and happy vibe all around.

"Music For a Sushi Restaurant" is Harry's way of making art out of the most absolutely ordinary, daily things. Super disco, pop funk. He even adds a jazz fit 'scooby-dooby-doo' lyric to top it off.

"Late Night Talking" is the classic tale of when you start talking to someone new that you're interested in. You end up on the phone every night just talking about anything so you can keep looking at each other. Feelings start to arise even though it all starts with simple late night conversations. Eventually, you 'can't get them off your mind' and they are 'in your life'.

"Grapejuice" sounded like it would be similar to watermelon sugar high just by the name... but maybe I am being fruit-biased. The beachy melody that accompanies the song is similar but this one follows a much slower pace than watermelon sugar. Another kind of love ballad- Harry goes on about bottles of wine, sitting in gardens, and not being able to get through the 'grapejuice blues'.

"As it was" was the first song to be released on the album. To say the least, Harry killed it. This song has a sound that will keep you playing it on repeat. Harry talks to himself in the third person in the second verse and it gives insight into his self-image. Harry thinks he is 'no good alone' and questions what pills he's on. It is not widely known that Harry has any sort of problems with drugs now but this might hint at periods of time when he was.

"Daylight" is another super catchy vibe that you could play anywhere as long as it's sunny out. You can feel this song was made for a hot, beautiful day. Harry makes it clear that 'Ain't gonna sleep till the daylight' is the motto of this summer.

“Little Freak” has a weird first few lines but is overall a great song. The first time I listened to it I was just swinging my head back and forth. He reveals that he isn’t worried about who his ex is going home with. He also admits that he messed up in the relationship also (“jumped in feet first and I landed too hard”). The only thing he is thinking about is the happy times and how they make him feel.

“Matilda” reminds me of the One Direction days and would be classified as a soft pop song. The lyrics are a ballad to a girl he calls Matilda. A big theme is growing up and moving on with life past a hard childhood. ‘You can let it go’ is the first line of the chorus.

“Cinema” is a techno-funk beat that Harry arranges with relatable, catchy lyrics. He infers about a relationship between a director and musical artist (“I bring the pop to the cinema”).

"Daydreaming" is where the album might feel like its getting a little repetitive in its sound and mood... but listen a second time and you'll see it has something special that makes it unique compared to his other songs. Daydreaming brings a funky tune to the album... although unique, probably most similar to "Music For a Sushi Restaurant".

“Keep Driving” is the PERFECT song for drives this summer. He sings about a bright day and a fun night where he and a partner adventure around with no worries. The question of the song “should we just keep driving” is rhetorical and the answer is absolutely YES.

“Satellite” gives you a smooth pop tone with lyrics that make references to space “I go round and round, satellite”). He sings about someone he is losing in a romantic relationship and how he just wants to be pulled back in.

“Boyfriends” is an absolute gem for Harry’s predominantly young, female audience. He sings about the misconceptions boyfriends have about their significant others. Harry reveals problems that arise in so many relationships

“Love of my Life” will set anyone with a recent heartbreak into a spiral of playing this song on repeat. Harry talks about someone who was the love of his life, and explicitly says that. Although this song was written with 3 other people and composed by another, it sheds light on a topic that many people are familiar with: heartbreak.
